Caring for your boat cover

CleantoGleam Canopy Protector is a transparent, non-greasy liquid for protecting and prolonging the life of your boat’s canopy, covers and biminis. Using hydrophobic nonotechnology, it inhibits the growth of mould and mildew by repelling dirt and moisture. Ideal for canvas, vinyl and fabrics, Canopy Protector creates a waterproof and UV barrier, helping to prevent weathering and keeping your canopy looking good for longer.

How to use CLEANTOGLEAM Canopy Protector:

1. Make sure your canopy is completely clean and dry
2. If not, clean the fabric with CleantoGleam Canopy Cleaner (following the instructions on the bottle) to remove dirt and stains
3. Wear suitable eye protection and rubber gloves
4. Cover the ground under the working area
5. Shake the bottle of protector to ensure an even flow
6. Pour into a small bowl and apply with a paintbrush or soft clean cloth
7. Start at the centre and work outwards to the sides, covering all the canopy evenly
8. Wait up to 24 hours for the fabric to dry thoroughly
9. For best results, apply a second coat to ensure the entire cover is protected

Top Tip:

It is advisable to check a small, inconspicuous area of your cover first as some colours appear lighter or darker after treatment. To prevent the protector from drying too quickly and producing an uneven finish. Don’t apply in direct sunlight. CleantoGleam Canopy Protector can be applied to the canopy while it’s on or off the boat. If removed, put the canopy back on the boat to dry, wipe any drips immediately from shiny surfaces such as gel coat, paint, glass or Perspex. Apply every six months, to gain maximum protection. For general bird muck and natural substances, wash with a diluted solution of CleantoGleam Boat Wash while washing the boat; this neutral cleaner won’t strip away the protection.
